Try out new things and learn while doing that. It's to work together, collaborate and build things that are innovative. It is to be a better programmer.

With that spirit, Western Union is conducting a hackathon - Techathon'21 and invites all developers and hackathon enthusiasts to participate in an interesting and engaging hackathon.

Eligibility:

  • Students of 2022 batch from the educational institutes listed below, who have 60% and above in the graduation / post-graduation course (whichever is being pursued currently) without any backlog subjects in the previous semesters.
  • Students who are currently pursuing their final year of B. TECH / B.E. / MCA / M.Sc. / M.Tech Computer Science and Information Technology from the following educational institutes listed below:

Subscription Management Platform

During this pandemic, there is a tremendous increase in the use of online subscription services like OTT platforms and music services (such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify, iCloud, and Youtube music) or other subscription-based services like news (Hindu.com, Wire.com, NYTimes, etc.) and digital learning sites (Medium, PluralSight, etc.).

Challenge: Create a Subscription Management Platform that interfaces with different service providers to manage subscriptions and to empower consumers to better manage their monthly/annual subscriptions. 

Tasks:

 

1. [Minimum (must-have) feature]

  • Responsive Web UI/App and simple to use 
  • Creation of user profile
  • Manual or discovery-based module for subscriptions onboarding 
  • List all the subscribed services with relevant info like renewal frequency, next due date, days remaining, charges, etc.)
  • Users should have the ability to buy or renew the new subscription
  • Users should be able to unsubscribe/cancel the services
  • Notification system for renewals of any services
  • Issue-reporting dashboards
  • Transaction (or billing) history



2. Advanced (good to have) feature

 

  • The platform might be able to tap into the activity feeds to identify the disuses and inform users about it
  • Recommendations of different subscription services depending upon usage
  • Gamification: Reward points on payments through this platform
  • Integration with payment channels



3. Technology Guidance

 

  • Feel free to choose the technology or platform of your choice
  • Free to use any third-party libraries, APIs, engines
  • Prefer not to use any paid third-party libraries or APIs
